Mulpani Village Collective
Three years ago, Goma Regmi of Mulpani village on the outskirts of Kathmandu decided to organise a group of ladies to fund raise for the children of the Disabled Rehabilitation Centre in Kathmandu. Goma's plan was to raise the awareness of the residents in the suburbs of the city to the needs of this group of disabled children. She was joined by Ganu Regmi and Rupa Banjara.
The enthusiasm of these ladies soon spread through the village and they were joined by many of their friends and relatives and also one man There are now 27 members and in 2006 one of the group collected over 50,000 rupees. This is a tremendous effort as most donations are five or ten rupee notes.
The villagers of Mulpani are poor, they do not own land and work very hard to give their own families a good education.
Their compassion for the children at DRC and many hours spent knocking on doors in Kathmandu has already provided much needed money for the day to day needs of DRC
